Description

This may/may not be a bug but I was confused what exactly is the expected behavior so I thought of reporting it here just in case.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open VE
  2. Click Insert
  3. Click Gallery
  4. Click Options
  5. Click to access drop down menu for Display Mode and select Slideshow

At this point both the fields of Image width and Images per row will be shaded out. This made sense to me, perhaps this is a feature to prevent the page from being overpopulated along the width and make sure user articles appear organized or according to a standard for Wiki articles.

Now if we do the following:

  1. Insert a few images and click done.
  2. Click on Save Changes
  3. Now switch from read mode to edit mode on VE to re-edit the created slideshow gallery.
  4. Click on the inserted gallery slideshow and click edit
  5. Go to options

At this point the fields of Image Width and Images per row becomes open/not shaded and can accept values but I wonder if it is expected, especially since I believe, it is very rare to have multiple rows of images for one slideshow.

Although the width field does appear disabled when I am adding a slideshow, I see it gets enabled after I save the page and try to re-edit the slideshow
