At the moment, the WikiProject search field has an auto-completion feature that pulls it's data from the API (opensearch action) of the wikipedia currently in use. The prefix that it searches for is one of 'Projet:', or 'Wikipedia:WikiProject ', depending on if the current wiki is FR or EN (and then the user's search term is tacked on the end).
This could be fixed to use instead a (perhaps non-ajax-retrieved) list that's taken from the CopyPatrol database itself. This would mean that only those projects that have copypatrol records would be shown, and that we could get rid of the French-or-English check.
Alternatively, as soon as PageAssessments is on fr.wp (T153393), the CopyPatrol search field could get its list from the PageAssessments API (which would also be without prefix searching).
Do people expect to see their favourite project in the search box? Would they be confused if it's not there, and not realise that it means that there's nothing in Copypatrol for them to look at?
