Description

Build a major edit detector. A "major edit" is the polar opposite of a "minor edit". We could train it on human judgement about edits to articles and whether or not they constitute a "major" or "noteworthy" change to the content.

Wiki thing it helps with:

  • Being able to identify meaningful updates would help readers to track the evolution of events more comfortably (compared to refreshing the page and making sense of diffs) and more reliably (based on the NPOV principles of our projects instead of relying on Twitter to track updates)
  • This would be a very interesting way to look at the history of an article too. You might imagine compressing the history tab into expandable "epochs" of major contributions and cleanup.
