We have the cirrus based entity search configured on http://elastic-wikidata.wmflabs.org/. We can use that system to play with the new search backend.
Note: Code on the test system is updated daily, at midnight UTC. The elastic index is updated once an hour, so it may take a while for changes to labels and descriptions become visible.
