Allow users to update to the most recent version of articles in reading lists
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Per the ticket T177554: As a user of reading lists, I would like to know if a newer version of an article I have saved is available on the equivalent feature proposed on iOS:

Why are we doing this

Getting notifications about article updates was cited as a desired feature by the >100 articles user cohort during a Reading List survey conducted in 2017. These notifications would alert users that an article they have saved offline has been updated and provide users with the option of updating this article to the newer version.

Proposed solution
  • Users are able to see if there are updates available on both a reading list level and on an individual article level
  • There will be some visual indicator for individual articles that have a newer version available
  • Articles can also be updated individually, or by bulk edit action
  • There will be an update in progress indicator whilst newer articles are being saved for offline
  • As with standard syncing, there will be an option to cancel updates in progress.
