We are using both counter and gauge metrics without specifying their type as explained here https://prometheus.io/docs/instrumenting/exposition_formats/#text-format-details
We need to determine the right type for our existing metrics and comment accordingly so they are handled as expected.
This task has been assigned to the same task owner for more than two years. Resetting task assignee due to inactivity, to decrease task cookie-licking and to get a slightly more realistic overview of plans.
