Article-counts on www.wikipedia.org have extra spaces and are not visible on Firefox
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The article-count text on https://www.wikipedia.org/ has extra spaces before the word "articles". Also, the word "articles" is not visible on Firefox.

Steps to reproduce:

Go to https://www.wikipedia.org/
Click on the "Read Wikipedia in your language"
You can see it is written

1 000 000+ articles

The problem is : there are 3 spaces between the number and the word "articles". If you visit the page in Firefox, the word "articles" is missing.

Desired outcome

Remove the 3 spaces and set only one space, and make the word "article" visible on Firefox.

@Niridya: How and where to actually see this, and which exact problem is created by the current behavior?
Please see https://mediawiki.org/wiki/How_to_report_a_bug - thanks!

Niridya: Cannot reproduce (Firefox 61 on Fedora Linux):

yo (396×1 px, 52 KB)

And I do not see any word "articles" either next to these numbers.
Please follow https://mediawiki.org/wiki/How_to_report_a_bug by providing browser information and browser version information and a screenshot.

That's strange, you don't have the word "articles". I will send you a screen too.

Yeah this looks like a bug, both the spacing and the word not showing up in Firefox. I've updated the description to reflect that. I'll look at this issue soon.

Thank you for your reactivity and you corrections on the task.

Change 456617 had a related patch set uploaded (by Jdrewniak; owner: Jdrewniak):
[wikimedia/portals@master] Fix "aricles" label

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/456617

The issue here was that the page was not rendering the english label for the word "articles". It did appear in other languages, which is probably why I didn't notice this earlier. :/
The patch above should fix the issue.

Thanks for the fix @Jdrewniak ! I test and it works perfect in latest Chrome. When this changes will be applied ?
