Partial switch to POST in search instead GET gives unexpected behavior
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

I recently noticed while doing searches that the url is https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php . When I click on the next page I get an url like https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Search&limit=20&offset=20&ns0=1&ns6=1&ns9=1&ns12=1&ns14=1&ns100=1&ns106=1&search=haswbstatement%3AP180&advancedSearch-current={} . When I change the search and click "Search" this is posted. This leads to unexpected behavior like it's harder to share an url, ending up on the main page after a reload or browser reset, etc. This should just be changed back to a GET

Hey @Multichill, thanks for the report. When I got this right, it should be know issue (e.g. see T223701: Recent search regression: changing certain components in the search bar changes the URL to a plain index.php).

We already created a fix for it that should go live during the middle of this week. Please be patient. :-)
