Image caption collides with text on wikipedia pages on Blackberry QNX OS10 mobile devices
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

When a wiki page has an illustration inserted, the text of the illustration and the following page text are on top of each other. There are a few other strange areas where two sections of text are on top of each other.
Seen on a Blackberry "Classic" Cellphone, using QNX Operating system, Blackberry OS " 10 ".
I have screen saves of typical examples, but am extremely surprised to find a bug report that has no
way to attach a jpg clearly displaying the bug!

Aklapper renamed this task from wikipedia pages show garbage formatting when viewed by Blackberry QNX OS10 mobile devices to Image caption collides with text on wikipedia pages on Blackberry QNX OS10 mobile devices.Jul 1 2019, 3:09 PM
Aklapper reopened this task as Open.
Aklapper added a project: MobileFrontend.
ovasileva moved this task from Incoming to Needs Prioritization on the Web-Team-Backlog board.

Hi everyone who has looked at this problem.
Above, Aklapper put in a typical view whereby the
text under a photo is mixed with the text of the page.
I read some of the help suggestions by Aklapper, and got
this photo from the wiki 2 test site.

This Blackberry "Classic " Q-20 uses QNX Corps QNX linux based Operating System. I was having severe hacker problems with the "old" QNX version, so I went online and got a "developer" version, which, I just saw loaded as the latest official version on a friend's new Q-20. I have been using it for over a year. Verizon in the U.S. bought the plagued yahoo.com ( which has a massive mainframe installed by the F.B.I. that monitors every word of every one of hundreds of millions of emails daily, and reports any and all emails containing "key words" (( Edward Snowden 20,000 open docs of 2 million encrypted Docs)). Yahoo hid the first hack of "unknown" downloading a half billion user's data, and within a year, publicly announced the 1.5 billion user hack that followed. Verizon changed the Servers, and kicked off all QNX OS Cellphones, so I was forced to switch to Gmail. -- since then , yahoo.com home page has dead links, dead videos, and a few strange formatting issues. )
Lycos.com was completely dead in that all searches for almost a year resulted in "not found", but recently fixed the problem. Excite.com in the last 6 months has new front page, and clicking on most of the links, such as SEARCH, are dead.
I have tried to contact the webmasters, but at the last of every email the capcha is dead! so I cannot send!
The fact that large Corporate Search Engines work, then do not, then work again, indicates that this is a problem across the Server World with some sort of html/java/php/ coding issue. Wikipedia has worked properly for well over a year, until the past couple of months, when the text on top of text problem appeared. The version of QNX OS, 10.3.3.2137 has been the same since I was an early user. I can "see" most web pages, around the world properly ( albeit on a 3 inch by 3 inch teeny screen ! ) and regularly use yahoo, bing, google, duckduckgo, startpage, yandex, naver, baidu, goo.ne, aol, lycos, etc., on a daily basis. The text-on-text strange behaviour of recent wikipedia would appear , not from changes in QNX OS, but in a coding in wikipedia. Why do all major other web sites work "properly" ? ( noting excite.com as a recent exception, with their obviously, toally re-designed home page ) .
I am very good at programming DOS 1, 2, 3 and COM command line, green screen, programs and QBasic on 80186 era machines. ( see kidbots.com ) - however the programming world has moved forward a wee bit since then . . . so I do not know what code has changed ( and I really don't want to know, since there are much more serious issues at hand that I can barely keep up with - see gravitationalresearch.com or psychomobz.com )
I note that this issue has been lowered to "LOW" and agree. QNX was dropped by John Chen at Blackberry in favour of "Android" (which I have on my BB Priv, and is on the new Key1 and Key2 ) . So only a very few millions of people have the earlier Blackberries like the Q-10, the Z series, etc., with QNX.
However, if some clever programmer finds out what "new and improved" coding in the recent changes in wikipedia is causing the problem, then this may avert other problems "down-the-road" with other Mobile Devices.
At the moment it is a curiosity and an annoyance to something like 1% of the world's mobile users !
Thank you for looking into this. If any real programmer can their hands on a "Classic" Q-20 , they should be able to
experiment more quickly and easily.
