Recently I tried to use the forgot password function from a mobile range. I got the attached error message. This is quite an alarming message (you are blocked globally). I'm assuming that my account was not actually blocked but the ip range was. Can we adjust the error message to reflect this? Something like 'the network from which you're trying to perform this action is blocked' and make it sound less personal?

(clarification: this happened on the commons-app, but i suspect the error message is more general? If the error message is specific to the app, let me know and i'll create an issue on github.)
That sounds like T109909: Anon-only range block doesn't allow password resets to me, hence I'm merging this task into T109909.
@Aklapper While fixing T109909 would make this issue obsolete, it is not the same. My suggestion would be to at least short term fix the error message. The bug you merged with, has been around since 2015.
I would suggest to unmerge, unless you have a strong indication that T109909 will be resolved soon. Given that a patch is actually declared abandoned, that seems unlikely.
Heja, feel free to unmerge and please add at least one active project tag to this task, so someone could find this task. Thanks :)
