It is the image database of the Head Office of the Union Library Network (GBV) (German: Verbundzentrale des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbundes (GBV)). There are many copies of historic photos and other historic pictures which are in the public domain and are thus no longer protected by copyright according to German and U.S. Law.
