SUPPORT: wikibase-composer using latest wikibase version

Description

Hi,

I would like, in the wikibase-composer setup, to use the latest version of Wikibase to profit from these new features:

I followed this tutorial:

to update to version 1.34 but I cannot update to latest since there is no bundle for this. The question is, what is the best way to install the latest version? Should I create a bundle as here

https://github.com/wmde/wikibase-docker/tree/master/wikibase

or is there another way? (like cloning the current wikibase extension repository in the extension folder of the wikibase machine) Would you recommend to use latest for a production instance or is it better to wait? If we need to wait ... when should we expect the next release?

Hi!

yes the bundle for 1.34 exists. But the two features I was describing above are not in 1.34, they are only in latest as far as I know. So the question is how/if we should move to latest ....

The Kartographer extension is indeed not bundled in the current docker image bundle.
@Samantha_Alipio_WMDE We should have a chat about adding it!

As for T240189 this ticket only talks about documentation, but the feature of statement groups has been in wikibase for quite some time!

Hi!

Kartographer, is not a problem, we installed it separately ... the problems are:

  1. rendering images different from Wikidata Commons images.
  1. About the identifier section .... the thread I'm point to is also discussing that the identifier section is not properly rendered, there is written ⧼wikibase-statementsection-identifiers⧽ instead of a proper language localisation. I understood from the thread that you pushed a fix for that.

This is still not supported by default in wikibase (using commons media)
See T90492: [Task] Make Wikibase Repo work with a custom File collection, not only Wikimedia Commons

This was done in T240356: wikibase-statementsection-identifiers i18n message key should exist in Wikibase and will be in the 1.35 release (not before)
If desired we could possibly backport this one to previous versions as it should be pretty easy :)

I think we will wait for the next release, even if the features are nice they are not essential.
