Description

T243701: Wikidata maxlag repeatedly over 5s since Jan 20, 2020 (primarily caused by the query service)
T242081: Pywikibot fails to access Wikidata due to high maxlag lately
(per @Urbanecm suggestion)

There might be other temporary solutions similar to this suggestion as well.

I proposed a similar solution in https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/pywikibot/core/+/576813/ which increases maxlag step by step

Xqt triaged this task as High priority.Apr 7 2020, 3:30 PM

I am not sure if this is a good option. On any other wiki maxlag means to stop bot actions (or at least the write ones) and we should obey this threshold there. Only WD is failing due to WDQS issues so it would be reasonable to fix only WD.
