l10n-bot removed random translations from at least the OATHAuth repo
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Why did l10n-bot do https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/OATHAuth/+/591698/1/i18n/qqq.json? All subsequent patches fail on that.

Event Timeline

Urbanecm added a project: Language-Team.

Per Language-Team, they cover TWN somehow.

Urbanecm renamed this task from l10n-bot removed oathauth-enterdisablereason's docs to l10n-bot removed random translations from at least the OATHAuth repo.EditedApr 22 2020, 10:22 AM

<del>Browsing through b760540 a bit more, it seems to have removed also ar translation of oathauth-enterreason. That translation seems to still be on TWN.</del>

Edit: That's not a mistake, indeed removed in https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/OATHAuth/+/572402/19/i18n/qqq.json.

Change 591795 had a related patch set uploaded (by Urbanecm; owner: Urbanecm):
[mediawiki/extensions/OATHAuth@master] Partially revert b760540: Removed message documentation

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/591795

Nikerabbit added subscribers: Raymond, Nikerabbit.

It never got imported to twn https://translatewiki.net/wiki/MediaWiki:Oathauth-enterdisablereason/qqq. It was added about 6 hours before the export. @Raymond any notes from your side?

I have seen this morning the changes to OATHAuth and waited for export until the script performed all changes. It looks like the job for renaming message from oathauth-enterreason to oathauth-enterverifyreason did not run and I have not seen this.

@Nikerabbit can you see any reason why the rename job did not run?

Change 591795 merged by jenkins-bot:

I've seen some out of memory issues in the logs, maybe it could be related.

The export from today adds all existing translations for the renamed message. Per @Nikerabbit comment above I think it was a onetime glitch. I will keep an eye renames in the future.

I htink we can close this task?

@abi_ also reported renames failing, so I think we should look closer.

Raymond claimed this task.

Reason was a broken mass rename process on translatewiki. Fixed with T252764
