Redirect requests from wcqs-beta.wmflabs.org to the final URL for WCQS
Closed, ResolvedPublic2 Estimated Story Points

Description

As a user of WCQS Beta, I want my links to continue working when WCQS moves to its final location: https://commons-query.wikimedia.org/

WMCS provides support for URL redirection, once WCQS is available in its final location this needs to be configured appropriately.

AC:

  • URLs on WCQS Beta are redirected to the final WCQS location

For clarity, this is waiting for the production rollout of wcqs.

One thing that isn't clear here is the expected timing, from other meetings my memory is the intention is to enable this redirect a month after releasing the production instance?

This seems to be implemented as a local nginx redirect on wcqs-beta-01, which will break once we decommission that VM. I think we have a generic way of doing long term redirects on WMCS, but I can't find where it would be.

https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Redirects ? (Where the wcqs-beta redirect was already installed two days ago, apparently.)
