I am using the Wikipedia Android App Version 2.7.50353-r-2021-04-21

When I open various articles, the first picture appears twice. Just one example:

It seams to me that the page picture is shown at the very top. Usually the page picture is the first picture of the article, which appears at the beginning of the article anyway. There is one exception: When the article has some infobox and the picture is inside that infobox it is shown only once since infoboxes are collapsed, but there is still a lot of articles without an infobox.

I think a picture shall not be shown twice.

This is by design. At the top of the screen we show a "lead image", which is algorithmically selected from the article. This is independent of where that image appears in the article itself. If the article contains only one image, and it's close to the beginning of the article, it may indeed appear twice.
