Short description of the session (~150 words):

In this technical presentation, I show how Wikidata statements can be used to provide interesting insights about categories in Wikipedia and sister projects. I describe the technology that can be used for this, particularly the Wikidata List Template, JavaScript and the SPARQL endpoint of Wikidata and I give a detailed overview of the output of the analysis of Wikimedia Categories using Wikidata Statements.

Target audience:

People interesting in working on Wikidata or Wikimedia Categories as well as people interested in the cross-validation of Wikimedia Projects.

What will participants get out of this session? (~50 words)

The attendees will learn about the value of Wikidata to identify gaps in the representation of Wikimedia Category members, to generate automatic descriptions for categories and to emphasize works on maintaining categories and Wikidata. The attendees will also learn the value of categories in a Wikimedia Project.

Hello, and thanks for your proposal!
We would like to offer you to present on Saturday 22nd at 14:00 UTC. Instead of the main track, we would like to offer you to present in one of the hacking rooms on Jitsi, where you will be able to interact directly with the participants and work on a more collaborative way.
How does it work for you? Please let me know before May 17th so we can complete scheduling.
