"The FOO list has N moderation requests waiting." notifications can't be turned off in Mailman 3
Open, MediumPublic

Description

Mailman sends you an email notification about new emails that ended up in the moderation queue, and a periodic (and fairly frequent) reminder about the queue being non-empty. The latter is IMO a waste of time: I want to be able to ignore emails which I don't want to allow through. I'll batch discard them once every blue moon but I don't want to spend time dealing with them individually. Also I want to rely on my mail client's spam filter to not even show me notifications about obvious spam most of the time. These reminders break that. (Sure, I can just set up a filter for them, so this bug is not a high priority. But a central fix would be nicer.)

I can't recall the exact setting but it was possible in Mailman 2 to disable the reminders and only get one notification about each new held up email to the list. I can't find a way to do the same in Mailman 3.

Event Timeline

I understand but one thing is that now you have one central place being logged in, unlike mailman2 that you needed to have password of the mailing list at hand and login every time. Tending pending requests is much easier (basically as easy as clicking on the link given in the emails). Would it make the whole thing easier for you?

Even if you only get one spam email a day, it basically means you are quite likely to get two emails about it rather than one about it, which is not ideal. It might make more sense if it was possible to set it to a weekly or monthly timeout, because you might have missed a single mail in that period.

I could see the reporter's method of delaying with such mail being rational as well, especially for less-spammed lists, but it doesn't work so well if you keep getting bugged about mail that you do not intend to release or refuse anyway.

(Right now, lists.wikimedia.org is timing out anyway, so clicking on the link takes a long time to not do anything...)
