Removing PHP-API-for-Wikisource; see its description.

The general and default (!) values seem to come from the proofreadpage_index_attributes defined in the codebase at https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/plugins/gitiles/mediawiki/extensions/ProofreadPage/+/refs/heads/master/i18n/he.json#70 as "proofreadpage_index_attributes": "מחבר\nכותרת\nשנה|שנת פרסום\nמוציא לאור\nמקור\nתמונה|תמונת עטיפה\nדפים||20\nהערות||10", (and that translation has not changed for many years, to rule that out).

Additional strings, such as Scan resolution in edit mode seen on English https://en.wikisource.org/w/index.php?title=Index:Philip_Birnbaum_-_ha-Siddur_ha-Shalem_(The_Daily_Prayer_Book,1949).pdf&action=edit , are not part of the general and default ProofreadPage codebase, but seem to be local on-wiki customizations coming from English https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Proofreadpage_index_attributes .

Looking at Hebrew https://he.wikisource.org/wiki/מדיה_ויקי:Proofreadpage_index_attributes it seems local on-wiki customizations have not existed here (no page history).

@Dovi The configuration of the Index: pages content is configured by each Wikisource. The one from the Hebrew Wikisource is here and does not seems to have changed since February. If you want to add new fields like the one already present on English Wikisource, you should add them in there. If there is a community concensus, I can easily add Volumes, Table of Contents, Scan resolution in edit mode, Css, Header, Footer fields for you if you give me the translations in Hebrew.

I was the editor of that page. I don't think I made use of "Scan resolution in edit mode".
But at the time I did make extensive use of "Table of Contents".

1. I used it to include the full table of contents, which still appears to the left on the Index page.
2. I also used that same element, before and after the actual table of contents, to include lengthy guidelines for editing the book, which were meant to be temporary. Since the book is now complete, I realized that I should delete those guidelines, but wasn't able to since the element "Table of Contents" no longer appears on the edit page.
3. Here is part of the string in Hebrew that still appears towards the top of the page on the left before the Table of Contents: "נדפס בעמודים מקבילים בעברית (בצד ימין) ובאנגלית (בצד שמאל).".
4. Here is the header of the table of contents: "הַתֹּֽכֶן" (also left towards top).
5. Here is the header for "editing guidlines" (which begins below the table of contents on the left): "הוראות עריכה".

After discussion, as an experiment, the above change to "Mediawiki:Proofreadpage index data config" was reverted by one of the beaurocrats. Now the Index pages all show the "missing" fields. However, they are still empty, and the text which appears on the Wiki Index page still cannot be edited. Is there any way to get to the text that is being shown? Where is it "stored"?

The page appears to have a field called הערות that stores most of the data after the pagelist field (based on a quick look at the API). Did you guys have such a field at some point (maybe defined in MediaWiki:Proofreadpag_index_attributes)

I now see the change where the "Notes" field was removed from "Mediawiki:Proofreadpage index data config". I'm thinking of reverting to that, or to the earliest edit on the page, which was copied from the parallel page at en.wikisource (according to the edit description).

However, before doing so I noticed something strange: All of my edits to that Index page were finished earlier, i.e. well before another user created "Mediawiki:Proofreadpage index data config" at he.wikisource. Before that, "Mediawiki:Proofreadpage index data config" didn't even exist. So would reverting solve the problem?

Did the experiment. The field "notes" now exists, but it is blank, like almost all of the fields on the edit page...
I guess that reverting "Mediawiki:Proofreadpage index data config" so that it includes all the relevant fields doesn't solve the problem.

@Dovi Can you try the following config? It's based on the config hewikisource had before + some guesses based on the MediaWiki:Proofreadpage index attributes page (which is the old configuration syntax)

There has been community discussion of this at Hebrew Wikisource, and here is what we have learned:

1. 1. The "Pagelist Widget" was installed in January of this year, after a community vote.
2. 2. After installation, the page "Mediawiki:Proofreadpage index data config" was created, by a user. It initially had all of the fields. The page underwent revisions for translation and some fields were removed. But all fields in previously existing pages are blank!
3. 3. Is this a bug?? I.e. does the installation of the "Pagelist Widget" or the creation of "Mediawiki:Proofreadpage index data config" lead to lack of access to text in previously existing fields?

@Dovi Enabling the PagelistWidget itself shouldn't cause any loss/hiding of data (it's a 1 line change in MediaWiki:Proofreadpage index data config and it's designed not to do anything to any field unless it is specifically clicked on/activated by the user).

Wrt to migrating to MediaWiki:Proofreadpage index data config from MediaWIki:Proofreadpage index data attributes there might be some loss/hiding of data if the names/ids of field are not the same.

So if you (say) had a field called খণ্ড (volume in bengali) on bn.wikisource.org in MediaWiki:Proofreadpage index data attributes and while migrating you decided to define the field like this in MediaWiki:Proofreadpage index data config:

then you will lose the data in the খণ্ড field (since according to ProofreadPage খণ্ড and volume are different names even tho they refer to the same thing), instead, you need to define field like:

If the data is hidden, is there a way to find it? To delete it from the "hidden" place and paste it into one of the current fields?
Or would changing the name of the field (as in your example) solve the problem?
As it is, the "hidden" data appears on the Wiki page but cannot be edited.

I tried it and it worked! The text is recovered. It is now possible to edit.
