Finding and inserting templates: Bold formatting missing in some search results
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

When typing the exact name of a template, it does not appear in bold while other templates with that word are highlighted. This makes searching for templates more difficult. Could the bold be reversed and only be applied to the word one is searching ?

This was an intentional design decision. The word one just typed is less important. You just typed it. What you need to read to decide which of the search results is the one you are looking for is the other half of the text you didn't type.

We can undo this. But such a decision probably needs to be done based on more data.

An alternative approach is to do something special when there is an exact match. That's an important search result, but currently not highlighted at all.

@JStrodt_WMDE as Thiemo wrote above this was an explicit design decision, and we are following the pattern introduced by the readers web team in the Desktop Improvements project. This will ensure it is consistent when those changes are rolled out everywhere.
