Add an image: Copy-paste mispositioned in caption box
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

List of steps to reproduce (step by step, including full links if applicable):

  • copy something on the clipboard
  • start Add an image workflow
  • click Yes
  • type something in the caption box
  • paste

What happens?:
The clipboard text is pasted to the beginning of the caption, and gets preselected

What should have happened instead?:
The text should be pasted at the cursor, and not be selected.

Software version (if not a Wikimedia wiki), browser information, screenshots, other information, etc:

  • Chrome 96 on Ubuntu 20.04.3, in mobile emulator mode, pasting with shift-insert
  • Chrome 96 on Android 12, using long-press and "Paste" (but "Paste as plain text" and the keyboard suggestion work normally; the pasted text did not include any formatting in the first place)
