Set up Central Notice Campaign for a survey about Paid Editing
Closed, ResolvedPublic1 Estimated Story Points

Description

The New Volunteers team helps volunteers to create and promote a survey on paid editing.
The survey will be advertised via Central Notice.

Unlike other times, there will be no event logging and only one banner (in three different resolutions).

The banner will be built in HTML by the external service provider Mr. Hansch. It will be based on the current repository. He will upload the finished banner to Github.

The planned start date is 05.04.2022. Since the survey is not linked to other events, the banner can be moved back slightly if necessary.

Event Timeline

@kai.nissen Hey Kai,

I created two tasks for the campaign. I hope I provided all the context you need.
I hope the targeting of logged in users with "Passiver Sichter-Status" (Passive editor (flagged revisions)) will be possible without any hassle. @MartinRulsch will check this next week and will give an update.

Sure, there is a local group called “autoreview” which is equal to the „Passiver Sichter“ group. It just needs to be targeted in the banner source code (which seems to be developed by WMDE's SWE departement here, right?).

@MartinRulsch, @Merle_von_Wittich_WMDE Yes, autoreview is one of the elements returned by mw.config.get( 'wgUserGroups' ). This shouldn't be too much of an effort for us, but could also be done by the external developer.

Targeting:
The contractor has added the targeting for the group "autoreview". At the moment it is "commented out" in ShouldShowBanner.js for testing.
After deployment, the comment must be removed.

  • Check the targeting again: logged in users in the local group autoreview

Launch Date
It was originally planned to launch the campaign on Tuesday 5.4. I'm not attached to this start date; I'm happy to start on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday if it means less stress for you. The campaign should run for 10 days.

I just need to hear from you at least 2 hours before the planned start time so that the announcement in the "Kurier" can go online.
You can also do this via mattermost or google hangout.

@AbbanWMDE

Good Morning and thank you for your work :)

Is there anything else that needs to be done on your side, or are you waiting for the OK from me so that the campaign can start? (I don't have the CN permissions myself).

I have just contacted a volunteer and asked her to post the information in the "Kurier" as soon as possible.

@AbbanWMDE
see comment above from @MartinRulsch – Is that something you can correct yourself easily or should I contact the contractor?

@MartinRulsch @Merle_von_Wittich_WMDE It should be displaying okay on Vector, Monobook, and Minerva now.

@AbbanWMDE
Great - huuge Thank you!

So you are just waiting for my Go to start the campaign?

@Merle_von_Wittich_WMDE Yep, I can set it to go live whenever you want.

kai.nissen claimed this task.
