Automatic subscriptions don't update the [subscribe] button correctly

Description

After being auto subscribed to a discussion, I see this:

I should see this:

I remember seeing it in the past, but I can't reproduce now.

The link is supposed to be greyed out like this for only up to 5 seconds, during which we check whether the automatic subscription was created or not, and un-grey it afterwards (and update the text if it was created). I can't find any issues in that code.

@Whatamidoing-WMF – I have not yet been able to reproduce this either. Please comment if/when you notice this happening again.
