Make copy of the "Publish" button more consistent on Wikidata.
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Problem:

Currently, we are using different copies for the same kinds of buttons on different pages on Wikidata. This is confusing.

Solution:

We use the implementation from T165870 for all of the pages on this list:

Notes:

  • Reminder: This might need to involve reading a configuration setting to decide if the copy should be "Publish" or "Save".

Mockups:

Acceptance criteria:

  • The buttons match the solution.

Open questions:

  • Are there more places that we should fix?

Event Timeline

My initial copy suggestion for these pages' buttons would be to use "Publish changes" when several data points about an entity are being modified (like in Special:SetEntitySchemaLabelDescriptionAliases), and use "Publish description", "Publish label" or "Publish aliases" (etc) in pages used to modify individual pieces of information.

If we are experiencing issues with translations making very large buttons as we see in this ticket: T165870 we could go with some of the options Sarai suggested: Publish changes

If we change it for one, I think we should apply it to all of those pages outlined as it will create inconsistency.
