This task outlines the desired Icinga state by end of FY23/24. The guiding principle is to reduce Icinga' scope and use cases over time. To this end, the following is desired:

• Icinga "tenants" other than SRE (WMCS, FR) have a clear migration path out of Icinga. Ideally the migration(s) have already happened or are happening
• For SRE purposes Icinga becomes effectively a backend system only:
  • Notifications are no longer sent by Icinga (irc, pages, email, etc)
  • The Icinga web interface is no longer in use (i.e. we only use alerts.w.o)
  • Icinga alerts will still be "bridged" towards Alertmanager. This is already the case today. Though Alertmanager is prevented to send notification for Icinga alerts, as that would result in double notifications (e.g. on IRC)
