Add test server to rack E8
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I'll be working on getting racks E8 and F8 to a state where they can host production servers.

For that would it be possible to rack any server (eg. decom one) in E8 and connect it to the switch, so I can test connectivity. It will needs to stay up for at least the quarter.

@ayounsi Racked a test server (cloudvirt1024) into E8 as requested.

cloudvirt1024 - E8, U18, CableID 230304500276, port 1

Can you confirm on which switch port this was connected? Dell numbering is annoyingly different from Juniper.

I see a transceiver (SFP+ 10GBASE-CR-DAC-3.0M) on port 2 (bottom left), but none on port 1 (top left). I don't have a link on port 2 though.

To make things worse, physical port 1 is name "Ethernet0" in the software, port 2 "Ethernet1".

Verified the switch. It is

WMF10822 - 4BN3SR3

Thanks and on which switch port is it? So far I don't see any link from the switch side.

For the management side, I can't get the provision cookbook to run, the iDRAC doesn't seem to be querying for an IP over DHCP.
The old mgmt IP is unreachable so I guess the iDRAC was properly reset.

Is it possible to double check that it's reset and properly connected? Or maybe try to configure its new mgmt IP manually?

Configured idrac manually and verified connection on switch
