bot adds superfluous |url-status=dead when adding |archive-url=
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Affected wiki(s): en; perhaps any wiki that uses a version of the cs1|2 module suite that supports |url-status=
Diff(s) (if applicable): Religious war (diff)
What is happening?: Bot adds |url-status=dead when it adds |archive-url=. |url-status= is a control parameter that tells Module:Citation/CS1 which of |url= or |archive-url= should be used to link |title=. In the absence of |url-status= Module:Citation/CS1 uses |archive-url=. This is the default condition and has been ever thus.

Including |url-status=dead when adding |archive-url= does nothing except cause confusion. Editors think that |url-status=dead means more than it does so arguments arise when the superfluous |url-status=dead is removed. Some also think that it is equivalent to Template:Dead link; it is not.
What should happen instead?: IABot should discontinue adding |url-status=dead. It is ok (and desirable) that the bot continue to add |url-status=live and |url-status=bot: unknown.
