eqiad: Connect IC-374549
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Cross connection for circuit IC-374549 has been completed by Equinix and is ready for patching.

https://netbox.wikimedia.org/circuits/circuits/119/

Please patch PP:0000:103234 Ports5/6 into cr1-eqiad (WMF3401) et-1/1/2 using a 100G optic (you'll need to confirm if present, was stated likely present during DC Ops meeting.)

Please update the cable ID on the circuit info once patched.

Ran the cable and plugged it into requested ports.

Thanks @VRiley-WMF. Right now we can't see the status as the port needs to be enabled for 100G. But that involves resetting PIC 1/1 completely which will affect the other ports on it.

Not too tricky as the other ports in use are uplinks from switches, so we can shift traffic away in advance by changing the VRRP priority. I'll have a go at that tomorrow morning in the EU when traffic levels are at their lowest in the US, to avoid putting undue stress on cr2-eqiad when traffic is shifted to it.

I'll report back then in terms of the status of the circuit. It may be hard down even if the cross-connect is and patching is fine, because codfw isn't cabled up, but I'll advise either way on the status.

Mentioned in SAL (#wikimedia-operations) [2023-11-07T11:32:51Z] <topranks> reset PIC in cr1-eqiad slot 1/1 to enable port et-1/1/2 at 100G for new transport (T350504)

I added the config to set the port to 100G and bounced the PIC (the asw facing ports on it were already VRRP backup).

Light levels inbound look good so I think the xconnect is fine. The interface is down, but I think that makes sense cos the far-side in codfw isn't cabled yet.

Awesome! I wasn't sure if they would be sending light since we hadn't connected the far end yet, but glad they are so we're set in EQIAD.

This can now be resolved, as the cable ID has been updated by @VRiley-WMF and the light level is Rx according to @cmooney. The overall implementation of the circuit is tracked via the parent task.

Thanks everyone!
