Some license templates have an |author= and/or an |attribution = field. The {{self}} template uses its |author= parameter to populate these. Currently, the author parameter isn't populated by UploadWizard, but it can and should be. In the case of "own work", that would be populated with the user's username (or configured attribution string, which I believe we already use elsewhere). In other cases, we have an "author" field in UploadWizard that can be used.

It would help re-users to correctly attribute media when re-used.
