Allow users to see italicized titles just by the official (not the gadget) navigation popups, without clicking the article
Open, LowPublicFeature

Description

Feature summary: Not sure if it's due to technical limitation, but allow a toggle to display italics in navigation popups and in search box.

Use cases: In editing Wikipedia pages, it is a hassle to manually click and check every article to make sure you know whether to italicised the name or whatnot, since the navigation popups of the article, whether editing or not, doesn't show any italicised text. This is a very common problem for me in earlier editing stages, as it also led to a long waiting time to load the articles. + For edits, I'm not sure about the 'source editing', as I mostly used the 'visual' one, but I think implementing this to the visual only is good enough.

Benefits: It allows for others to potentially know faster if the article name is the name of a creative works, etc. when searching up an article in the search box or during editing an article.

Hi @WhyIsNameSoHardOmg, thanks for taking the time to report this!

allow a toggle to display italics in navigation popups and in search box.

Hi, how / why does that create a problem? What is the use case? Why does their need to be an option toggle? I'm afraid I cannot follow. What is a list of steps to reproduce the situation? Thanks in advance!

@WhyIsNameSoHardOmg - thanks for your report! In addition, I wonder if you can send or attach some screenshots of the issue as well, if possible. Thank you!

In Wikipedia "Preferences", there is the "Gadgets" tab, this can be where the option to enable or disable my feature suggestions is. The reason for this is just because I thought some people would disagree or hate seeing italics; this is just an assumption. It being an untoggable feature is too big of a change for me.

For the "list" and problems, I'm not sure. Very specific cases might be on Emma Mærsk, where the title can be wrongly assumed as a name for a person or place, when it is actually the full name of a boat; it also lacks the usual italicised combination with the normal text style (aka, Emma Mærsk is fully italicised, which is even more unpredictable).

The editor seeing that text on a page not being italicised might not bother clicking the link to check if that's correct on the editor.

Sure, the person can just hover the link off the editor mode, but some people (like me) would just rush straight into the editor to fix any obvious flaws first before any actual good copyedit; any efficiency tools are very appreciated.
