Purpose/details about your project: PediaPress offers a service to create books from Wikipedia. We established a strategic partnership with the WMF more than 15 years ago (10% of print book revenues are donated to WMF every year). We are requesting access to Wikimedia Maps in order to download pre-rendered maps used in Article infoboxes.

So far, infobox maps in Wikipedia articles were lost during the conversion to a printed PediaPress book, causing frustration for PediaPress customers. Access to Wikimedia Maps would allow us to download the existing pre-rendered infobox map images and include them in printed books.

Overall usage will be very limited and probably not cause noticeable increases in load or bandwidth usage on Wikimedia map servers.

Since PediaPress is based in Germany, we have been working most closely with WMDE in recent years.
