UpdateRepoOnMoveJob not registered in wikidata for wikisource page moves
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

page moves in wikisource (probably specifically those in namespaces like "Author") to not get registered in Wikidata's job queue and thus items never updated.

I see entries in runJobs.log for wikisource page moves in the main namespace having an associated job in wikidata.

I suspect the issue might be with how these namespaces are handled.

We wondered, if this is about namespaces, does moving pages in the enwiki "Wikipedia:" namespace work? You know, "Wikipedia:" does not exist in wikidata.org, it's called "Wikidata:" there. Is this a problem? The answer is no:

I would like to put this one on hold until Wikisource has the current version of UpdateRepo. I tried to debug this a bit but couldn't really get anywhere.... to not waste more time on old code which we already overhauled in master I will only look at this again after the next deploy on April 29.

A bot is currently doing the updates following a move, so some change have taken place somewhere.

I undertook the move at enWS

15:53, 12 April 2014 (diff | hist) . . (0)‎ . . m Author:Vincent Patrick Bryan ‎ (Billinghurst moved page Author:Vincent Bryan to Author:Vincent Patrick Bryan: expand name)

which was followed by the edit at WD

16:58, 12 April 2014‎ EmausBot (talk | contribs | block)‎ . . (5,009 bytes) (+8)‎ . . (‎Changed link to [enwikisource]: Updated: en:s:Author:Vincent Bryan -> en:s:Author:Vincent Patrick Bryan) (rollback 1 edit | undo)

I mentioned it in an open IRC channel to Aude at the time, though have yet to see them to confirm the significance of that edit.
