Unspecified date entries from UploadWizard
Open, MediumPublic

Description

UploadWizard fill the Date parameter of Information template using a simple date field with a title "Date work was created or first published."

  1. Even though the title mentions two options, "created or first published", the form doesn't allow to sign which of the two is really applied.
  1. UploadWizard prefills the date field automatically by various values (EXIF, last file modification, upload date etc.?) without using an appropriate marker template like {{According to EXIF data}}, {{Upload date}} etc. and without distinguishing them from manually and intentionally entered date.
  1. For photos, UploadWizard form doesn't allow to distinguish the date when the photo was taken ({{Taken on}}) from the date where the photo was edited or modified, first published etc.
  1. For photographed or scanned works, UploadWizard form doesn't allow to distinguish the date of creation of the depicted work from the date when the work was photographed or scanned (and possibly from the date of the depicted event or situation if differs from the creation date). That applies generally at all derivative works.
  1. The form doesn't allow to add {{Invalid EXIF date}} marker to block bots from extract the incorrect date. The form doesn!t allow to state explicitly that the date (of creation) is unknown.
  1. The form doesn't allow to enter {{Other date}}, dates, eg. from-untill, between, or, and, before, after, by, from, circa, decade, century, millenium, season, turn of the decade, turn of the year, early, middle, late, first half, second half, quarter, dates from alternative calenders,
  1. The form doesn't allow to put more than one date (using templates or comments to distinguish their meaning).
