nsinvert on special:newpages is not working

Description

Go to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:NewPages?namespace=1198&nsinvert=1

Expected results: Pages in Translations namespace (1198) shouldn't appear in results.

But right now, only pages in 1198 ns seems to be there. Same result when other namespaces are selected.

perhaps this should be Unbreak now!? I'm not sure..

Meta is running 1.25wmf12 so in theory the problem should also happen on all other Wikimedia wikis if it's a problem in MediaWiki itself.
Is that the case? Sorry but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to any namespace stuff.

Yes, other wikis as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:NewPages?namespace=0&nsinvert=1 shouldn't show pages in the main namespace.

Did this work a few weeks ago? (Wondering if that's a recent regression.)

The url param recognized by mediawiki is called 'invert', but using the form added a parameter 'nsinvert' which is not working. Caused by HTMLForm rewrite in https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/164733/
