Create a project for Persian Wikipedia technical users
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

There is a decently-sized group of technical users on Persian Wikipedia who are continuously working on various technical needs of this wiki, from translation and implementing various MW gadgets to running various bots, etc. It would be ideal for all these efforts to be centralized under the same project so we can share our tools, organize our efforts, and utilize the Labs resources more efficiently.

I would like to request a project to be me for this group. You can call it "Fa WP".

Event Timeline

Huji raised the priority of this task from to Needs Triage.
Huji updated the task description. (Show Details)
Huji added a project: Cloud-Services.
Huji added subscribers: Huji, Ladsgroup, Yamaha5.

I believe that projects need to start with a lower-case letter, and cannot have spaces. faWP ok?

Andrew faWP is good, even fa.wp or fa-wp works. Please use the same naming scheme that most other projects use (I think it is hyphenated?)

Yuvi -- I believe that Huji wants to set up a private wiki as a translation hub.

Why can this not run on tool labs?

Well part of our work can. As I said we do a lot of bots, and we are using tool labs for that. However, the idea here is not just to ask for technical resources, but to also have a "central" place for everything mostly for organizational (management) reasons. It is better to have one place where all related things are kept, than have each user work on their own repository separately.

That too!

Having your own project would imply that you're going to have to do a fair bit of sysadminy things yourself. If you're ok with that, then I guess I'm ok having this project created :)

Andrew claimed this task.

Project fa-wp created.

Please open a cleanup bug if/when you are finished with the project so we can reclaim resources.

Andrew, can you please change the quota such that we have 1 (one) public IP available to us? We need a public wiki so we can test Gadgets on it, implement various configurations, etc.

Actually, never mind, it seems I can get what I want just using a proxy.
