FWIW I'm working on getting swift to run in labs with our new puppet recipes while testing the jessie upgrade, project "swift"

only tangential to our switch over goal I'd say, see also T117972: swift upgrade plans: jessie and swift 2.x for the jessie upgrade itself. also something that would avoid re-occurrence of e.g https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Incident_documentation/20151215-swift-syslog
