Adyen Israel form & AmEx validation
Closed, ResolvedPublic2 Estimated Story Points

Description

We have heard from ~6 donors who have received 'invalid card number' error messages from the IL form when using valid American Express cards (1 today, the others from the first part of the IL campaign). The donors who have sent screenshots have tried multiple times, so the likelihood of typos is low. These error messages show before donors are able to submit the attempt to Adyen, and the donor in ZD#231253 confirmed their card is enabled for international use.

Can we check to make sure the form is not throwing error messages for valid AmEx cards?

Also, even if the form is working properly, how much do we want the form to validate the cards as opposed to the PSP? Can we update the message to be more specific, or ask Adyen to update if they host it? Finally, when trying to replicate this I received an error icon with no text attached (final screenshot) - can we improve that messaging to better explain to donors that there's an issue with the card number?

Event Timeline

The AmEx validation issue is fixed. Turned out to be that our account didn't have AmEx enabled for non-USD currencies, so the AmEx numbers were being validly rejected. I've had them change that setting and we can now accept AmEx in USD, EUR, ILS, UAH, JPY, and many more.

I'm thinking we resolve this ticket on the basis of that being fixed, and open a new ticket regarding the change to the way error messages are presented. That sound good to you @MBeat33?
