As an iOS user, I want to generate Random articles easily without loading entire articles
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

This is an alternative to the proposed redesign of Random on T127899: As an iOS user the Random feature is hard to find and use

User story
As a user I want to get the surprise factor of a complete random article loading when pressing a button/link to view a random article, and be able to keep selecting a "random" button/link to refresh random complete articles.

Problem
The solution proposed in T127899: As an iOS user the Random feature is hard to find and use means loading the entire Random article each time the random button is pressed.

  1. This is performance heavy.
  2. It may be confusing to add an additional random function on the article view.

Proposed alternative solution

  1. There is a random tile/button on the Feed

  1. Tapping on it brings up a separate "Random article" view with only a single preview card for a random article. Users may tap on the card to read that article in full, or else tap on the die button to generate a new random article preview in this view.

I'm satisfied that the new Random experience is good for users. We occassionally get feedback about discoverability but I don't think this change would fix that.
