Create custom task form for #wikitech.wikimedia.org for user access/permission requests
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Please create a custom task submission form for wikitech.wikimedia.org

Fields

I'd like default values adjusted for the following fields:

  • Title: Requesting <rights> access for <your-wikitech-username> (modifiable)
  • Tags: Cloud-Services, wikitech.wikimedia.org (locked)
  • Assigned To: hidden
  • Priority: hidden
  • Space: S1 (locked)
  • Visible-To: Public (locked)
  • Editable-By: All users (locked)

Description:

  • Wikitech username:
  • Your reasons for requesting this permission(s):

Story Points:

Please hide this field

Security:

Please hide this field

Visibility

I'd like this form to be visible to all members of wikitech.wikimedia.org via the global Create Task menu, but that non-members be able to use it as well as we intend to link this on Wikitech pages.

Preamble

Use this form to request user rights on Wikitech (wikitech.wikimedia.org)

  • On the title, please replace <rights> with the right or rights you're requesting. Please also replace <your-wikitech-username> with your exact Wikitech account name (not your shell name).
  • On the description: please re enter your Wikitech username after the "Wikitech username:"
  • Add the detailed reasons for requesting the permission(s).

After you've done that, hit "create new task". Please be sure to have notifications active in case questions are asked.

Event Timeline

Which wikitech pages would this form be linked from?
Where are such access permission requests currently handled?

Aklapper renamed this task from Custom task form for #wikitech.wikimedia.org to Create custom task form for #wikitech.wikimedia.org for user access/permission requests.Feb 24 2017, 4:00 PM

@Aklapper @mmodell There's no formal on-wiki page where permissions are currently requested. All permissions requests I am aware of have been handled via Phabricator: T158799, T158315, T158489 & T151893 are the most recent examples.

With T158417 having been fixed, we're slowly filling those pages with content, such as https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikitech:Content_administrators and much more to come, thus having a form would be easier and appropriate.

Thanks.

Is there any reason we are jumping straight to phabricator form request instead of trying a on wiki page?

There's no jumping if wiki pages were never used as far as I am aware.

@mmodell Please lock & hide the tags field for the creation of the task if at all possible. Thanks.

If possible, place Cloud-Services before wikitech.wikimedia.org (I know the order doesn't matter but looks cleaner that way).

Ah, the "(modifiable)" in the title was a note for the form creator that the field should be able to be editted. You can remove that too if possible. Thanks :)

Fixed.

Great, looks good to me, but something else must approve ;-)

In the interest of cleaning up my task list, I am marking this one as resolved.

If there are further changes needed then please feel free to reopen.
