OIT should be able to do this.
- decide how to handle old Google Group (to be discussed in staff meeting)
- create new group
OIT should be able to do this.
OIT says:
Hello Arthur,
We can rename the existing group and keep the previous email address as an alias. This way all the content will also be saved.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Byron
During our staff meeting today, grace, joel, and kristen +1'd the OIT recommendation.
One potential downside to it that kristen identified is that if we ever broaden access to the "community of practice", we may want to rethink whether or not new CoP members should be able to see the historic content of the group.
@NHarateh_WMF @MBinder_WMF @ksmith - what do you think?
@Awjrichards Seems fine to me. If we want to broaden access can we just cross that bridge when we come to it?
I would postpone creating any new lists until we figure out what the membership might be. If our initial CoP has 100% overlap with the membership of TPG, I might favor continuing to use the existing list. Then, when we're about to add someone new, we could create a new list and deprecate the old one.
