Problem statement: our thumbnailing/videoscaling platform operates on what's essentially unsanitized input from the internet, it might happen that broken originals are uploaded that can't be rendered (thumbnailed, scaled, etc). It would be useful if such problematic originals are surfaced in mediawiki for uploaders (or other interested users) to fix.

I'm opening a task to gauge if this idea would be generally useful. There are details to figure out still but the task is to get the ball rolling.
