Replace logo of the Spanish Wikipedia, which joins the protests against the European copyright directive proposal
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Please replace the current logo of the Spanish Wikipedia, https://es.wikipedia.org/static/images/project-logos/eswiki.png, with the one in https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-es-black.svg as soon as possible.

The Spanish Wikipedia joins the protests against the European copyright directive proposal. Broad consensus has been reached here. Wikimedia España and other Wikimedia groups support these actions as well.

Event Timeline

I must say that we typically required a formal vote to perform this kind of changes on eswiki. While it is true that some changes can also be proposed and approved on the Café, a discussion less than one day old is not IMHO valid for this change. If the discussion could last a at least a day or two more I'd be more inclined to not object. Thanks.

@abian The referenced file on Commons is limited to 135px, however the higher resolution file (eswiki-2x.png) needs to be updated as well. Otherwise most users will still see the regular logo (or a low-resolution image).

I'd recommend performing the change on the SVG file instead, using the black globe SVG:

These changes should only be applied tomorrow and on Thursday. Sadly, we can't wait any longer for that reason. The voting takes place on July 5.

Okay, I'll go for it.

If there's an SVG source for the black logo there's no need to re-upload them. I can generate the PNGs via the SVGs, pass them through optiPNG and upload a Patch. However, yes, a black logo with the text in Spanish in SVG version seems to be missing.
