@Gitartha.bordoloi Have you asked to @MarcoAurelio before assigning him the task?

@Jayprakash12345 I didn't. I reckoned he would be handling this kind of task. I've removed his name.

@Gitartha.bordoloi Please remember for future, Don't assign task without asking them.

Hey. No problem. I know @Gitartha.bordoloi didn't meant bad, but as I am quite busy at this moment, I'd not have been able to work on this one :-)

Change 517180 merged by jenkins-bot:
[operations/mediawiki-config@master] Enable ShortUrl Extension at aswiki and aswikisource

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/517180

This extension is being replaced by UrlShortener. That's the one that should be used instead. ShortUrl is deprecated and being removed.

What should we do then?

I'm sorry to say Meta UrlShortener is a disappointment and doesn't serve the purpose of the community well. It's developed by wikimedia and that's the only benefit over third party sites. For every link from aswikipedia and aswikisource the page has to be reloaded, otherwise it shows the previous shortened link. The old ShortUrl extension still used by some projects would have been far better.

I don't know what that means but feel free to bring that up on https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_URL_Shortener with clear steps to reproduce.
