"Help with editing" link shown only for text content model, not wikitext
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open wikitext content model page
  2. Click edit source
  3. Open text content model page
  4. Click edit source

Current behavior
As you can see below, there is a link "Help with editing" that goes to Wikitext cheatsheet help page. But the link is (weirdly) only shown for text c-m, and not wikitext. I would say this should be the other way around. Thus this is either a historical relic, or some swaped if condition.

content_model = wikitextcontent_model = text

Event Timeline

Dvorapa updated the task description. (Show Details)

The link is hidden by the WikiEditor extension, since it provides its own help in the toolbar.

I see, the only weird thing then is that it shows on text content model page, where wikitext cheatsheet is not much helpful

The default help link does not link to 'wikitext cheatsheet', it links to generic editing help page: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Editing_pages. Your English Wikipedia link also used to direct people to a generic 'editing help page' until when people decided to change it and point users to 'wikitext cheetsheet'. Since the link was purposefully hidden by WikiEditor I don't think there's anything to do in this task.

I don't talk about English Wikipedia, but about Czech, but anyway, it seems they suffer with the same issue.

Its own help in the toolbar is also shown for text content model, which is another weird thing. This whole text content model just provides really weird behavior as WikiEditor toolbar allows you to add tables and link, which don't work in text content model. Every minute this seems even weirder than before, not sure if I should dig deeper.

Interesting. On a clean install the WikiEditor toolbar does not load for pages with content model = text, which seems to be the intended behaviour. However on en.wikipedia it does load.
