Draft policy for recruiting non-EU staff and freelancers to the hub
Open, MediumPublic0 Estimated Story Points

Event Timeline

Note:
As a non EU/EES-national getting a work permit from the Swedish Migration Agency typically takes 4-7 months. In more complicated cases, eg if more documentation is requested from the Migration Agency, longer.

Draft policy:
Work permit policy
Applications are open only to citizens of EU/EES-member states or applicants who already have a permanent residence permit for Sweden. The reason we have adopted this policy is that the average time it takes the Swedish Migration Agency to accept or deny a work permit request is 4-7 months.

We will invite job applications from citizens of non-EU/EES-member states only by explicit exception.

I have to leave this task unfinished. However, my recommendation is basically that, in order to avoid time- and energy consuming bureaucracy, WMSE shouldn't not as a rule hire non-EU/EEC people. Sub-contracting outside of EU/EEC is straightforward though - it's a business contract as any.
