Review Global Herald H109 - Add #Commons project to #MediaWiki-File-management and #MediaWiki-extensions-GWToolset
Open, LowPublic

Description

Currently we have {H109} adding Commons to every MediaWiki-File-management task which seems overly broad.

I wonder if we should review and potentially disable, Whilst there is some overlap in the two projects, Not every MFM task by default is relevant to Commons.

Event Timeline

I found T86444 but no discussion when or how that Herald rule was created or who requested it. :-/
I agree with the sentiment of this task, but up to those following Commons tasks to say what they want (and "they" is also blurry here I guess).

Hmm, how to make decisions and change... The Commons project tag in Phab has 32 "members"; 15 have been active in Phabricator in the last 6 months:
@Nemo_bis, @JeanFred, @Bawolff, @Dereckson, @Billinghurst, @zhuyifei1999, @El_Grafo, @Poyekhali, @Stang, @Thibaut120094, @Tulsi_Bhagat, @CptViraj, @JoKalliauer, @Uata1122, @Maka
Question is: Do you still want the Phabricator Commons project tag to be added to every task tagged with the MediaWiki-File-management project tag?
Or is that too noisy? See https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/commons/ for lots of tasks (not sure who looks at that workboard?)
Opinions welcome. Thanks!

@Peachey88: Any better idea how to get feedback from folks? :)

Lets just do it, and then see if anyone complains.

Every time I look at the history on the commons project tag I never see any history that makes it look like anyone is monitoring the workboard

Heh, H109 got already disabled in April 2021 and nobody realized (?) or complained so far, as far as I know. Shrug.

It probably got replaced with the bot which means it will be a patchset to action
