Default sorting of Special:CentralAuth
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

As an editor who wants to find information about another editor via Special:CentralAuth I currently have to click the "Edit count" column-header twice every single time, in order to make the list useful.
E.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:CentralAuth/Jimbo_Wales

This Special page should be by default sorted (descending) by the number of edits on local wikis.

They are currently sorted alphabetically on the basis of the list of local wikis beginning with aa.wikipedia.org and ending with zu.wiktionary.org

I've overhauled the description to hopefully make this a bit clearer.
And I'll add here a strong +1 from me!
I thought this task already existed, but I could not find a duplicate in either the Special-pages or CentralAuth phab-projects.

It's more natural to expect sorting by alphabet and this is done virtually everywhere. Sorting by edit count is arbitrary and I will find that unintuitive; and the same argument can be made to also sort the list by usergroups or whether the user is blocked. If there were no way to sort by editcount, then that could be a cool thing to add that, but since it is already possible, I don't think it's a good idea to change them.

The real problem to solve is T21161 which creates random accounts for people by merely clicking a link, and then you end up with a bloated Special:CentralAuth page with around hundred useless lines. If these random account creations were to be halted most people will have no more than 5 or 10 entries at that special page; and then you'll not even have a need to sort.

Sorting by alphabet may appear logical in theory, but it effectively renders the page useless until sorted otherwise. Also in the comparable scenario of forum board engines the forum sections on the user profiles are sorted by the number of posts a user made in these sections.

Even taking the example of your own global account, you do have quite a few wikis with a non-zero number of edits, so I would still have to sort the list by the edit count even if there were no wikis with a zero edit count on the list.
