Creation of a new user group on plwikipedia
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hello!
Per Polish Wikipedia community consensus[1] I would like to ask for creation of a new user group "Członkowie Komitetu Arbitrażowego" (Arbitration Committee Members) (group-arbcom). As stated on the linked page, the new group shall have the following rights:

  • abusefilter-log-detail
  • deletedtext
  • deletedhistory
  • abusefilter-view-private
  • browsearchive
  • abusefilter-log-private
  • oathauth-enable

Our local bureaucrats should be able to add and remove users to/from this group.

Thank you in advance.

Tagging legal given the access to deleted history and text

Number of other wikis have that group with these rights, including:

and probably some more, so IMO that shouldn't be an issue. However if Legal wants to take a look at it, then yeah, why not?

It's a formality because there's rules around accessing deleted text and voting on who can get it. It shouldn't be an issue in theory.

As a secretary of the Polish arb-com I would like to explain that so far members of individual terms of the Polish arb-com receive (for a limited period) full administrator rights. So that vote is supposed to organize the situation and in fact limit the powers, not extend.

Exactly like Jacek555 commented, this particular request is about limiting the number of rights that arb-com receive (without diminishing Arb-com power). Cheers!

Urbanecm moved this task from Backlog to Config - to process on the Wikimedia-Site-requests board.

No need to involve Legal. Everyone who passed a RfA-like process, which include ArbCom members, can get access to deleted stuff. This is ready to be processed.

Change 608440 had a related patch set uploaded (by ProcrastinatingReader; owner: ProcrastinatingReader):
[operations/mediawiki-config@master] Add arbcom group to plwiki

Proc triaged this task as Low priority.

@Proc: just a reminder that you need to schedule your patch for deployment

@Majavah thanks for the heads up. I was under the impression that it had to be +1'd first (aware the +2 is during deploy), but if that isn't required I'll go again and schedule.
