It seems there's a simple way of doing this in rsyslog without having to run an extra service like cron/logrotate. Documentation here.

The purpose of this would just be to prevent logs on developers' computers from growing indefinitely.

Changes to the rsyslog config would go in config/logger-rsyslog.conf.
