@DAlangi_WMF Drive-by comment: If you only need Logstash, you don't need shell access. (Getting shell access involves a lot more steps for you the requester, so if you can get along without it, that makes things quicker and easier for you.)
Hi @DAlangi_WMF.
There are ~ 2 options here. Either you apply for access in your volunteer capacity then you'd have to sign a volunteer NDA and once that is done we can add your volunteer account to the LDAP group called "nda" which should give you access.
Or, since you are a contractor and if it's part of that job, then WMF (ITS team) should provide you with a contractor email address (...-ctr@wikimedia.org). Then we would ask you to create a new wikitech user (either don't worry about the "WMF" part or optionally ask them as well to create it for you, that's how it's supposed to work to make sure only official users have "WMF" accounts) using that WMF email address. Then we can add that user to the "wmf" group that is made for staff.
If we go the contractor route then we'd additional info please, an "expiry_date" (when does contract end, can be extended of course) and an "expiry_contact" (person at WMF you are reporting to that we should contact about renewals).
Cheers,
Daniel
HI @Dzahn, I'll take the volunteer route and then sign the volunteer NDA. The reason for taking this route is because I won't have to ask again (even as a volunteer) when the time comes. I'll rename the title of the task. Thanks!
Change 643334 had a related patch set uploaded (by Dzahn; owner: Dzahn):
[operations/puppet@production] admins: add Alangi Derick to ldap_only admins (nda)
Change 643334 merged by Dzahn:
[operations/puppet@production] admins: add Alangi Derick to ldap_only admins (nda)
Mentioned in SAL (#wikimedia-operations) [2020-11-24T19:20:51Z] <mutante> LDAP - added derick to group nda (T268150)
Thank you @KFrancis
@DAlangi_WMF You have been added to the "nda" group with the "derick" (Alangi Derick) user. Access should work now.
